Dive La Trobe Mission Statement

Dive La Trobe’s mission, in its simplest form, is to get people in and under the water. We wish to provide people the opportunity to partake in safe, fun and cost effective diving and diving related activities. This encompasses divers of all abilities, from entry level to people with many years experience. It should be stated clearly that Dive La Trobe is not a business – we are a club and as such wish to maintain club values. We aim to attract people from the La Trobe Community – students, staff and alumni – so that we may foster an identity of our own and establish a strong club environment which will continue for many years.

The following outlines the expectations that members should have of Dive La Trobe, and those which Dive La Trobe has of its members. It aims to present a clear understanding of the culture our club wishes to maintain, and how this will be achieved.

What Dive La Trobe will do for you

We will continue to give all our members the opportunity to dive in the waters of Victoria, interstate and overseas. We will strive to maintain industry standards and procedures. We will continue to grow and develop a positive culture that attracts different people who share a common passion. We will maintain the club values of support, friendship, safety, enjoyment, education, conservation and improvement. And by doing all of this, we will guarantee you have a good time and stick around!

What you can do for Dive La Trobe

You can help support us. Everything that we can and will do for you requires the time and energy of volunteers, and we want you to be one of them! You can help integrate new members and join us on university Welcome Days, O-Week Celebrations and any other event that spreads the word of our awesome club. You can learn to use the compressor and fill tanks, help organise equipment for Try-Dives, show your skills on the BBQ, and assist in any other way that helps our club to improve. We want you to become a familiar face at the boat shed on Thursday nights, and any other club event! We want you to be the type of member other clubs want to steal!

Our Agreement

By applying for membership to Dive La Trobe the individual is agreeing to become part of the environment and culture described above. In doing so they also agree to support the club and continue its improvement.
